The Iconic Puzzle Game Wouldn't Win at This Gaming Ceremony — A New Category Might Solve This

As any major awards ceremony approaches, you'll find a clamor for introducing fresh award types to recognize overlooked contributions and delight the passions of fans with niche passions.

A fellow writer has already made advocating for terror-themed awards. That would rule. So would tabletop games, this being a passionate advocate's mission. But they will have to forgive me for pushing forward since similar to dedicated enthusiasts, I possess a compelling case backing this proposal stands as crucial and important of all. This is the request: It's essential to create a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Categorizing Game Types

Organizing artistic expressions is not a science; opinions vary greatly, and inevitably spark debates resulting in unclear classifications. This explains why movie academies don’t do it. However, it represents an essential concession in the world of interactive entertainment, which are so diverse they barely qualify a single creative category.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of gaming accomplishments to receive acknowledgment, and to ensure all game types to have a chance for representation, classification by type becomes crucial.

Present Award Structure

The major gaming awards currently feature classifications covering Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Fighting, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Together, these six categories actually cover a lot of ground, allowing placement for numerous titles.

Different situation exists for puzzle games. There’s simply nowhere to accommodate them. Think about these outstanding current releases, all very different: structural challenges from a specific release, the pulse-pounding block-matching from another release, thought-provoking social scenarios of a third title. Which classification works within current classifications? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Acknowledgment Issues

There are dozens excellent brain-teasers published annually lacking appropriate categories in entertainment awards, unless they happen to qualify classification types such as Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, or the intensely contested Indie races.

  • A renowned logic title wasn’t nominated for anything that year
  • Another creative title received no nominations during that ceremony
  • Well-received sorting experience got ignored recently
  • Only a few puzzle games barely qualified for small studio or handheld classifications

Importance of Logic Titles

These are often small games, yet the craft behind logic titles is of massive significance. Iconic mobile puzzle games count as most engaged experiences in the world continuing this trend for over a decade.

The famous puzzle experience challenges popular creative games claiming status as highest-selling title ever; it’s also in the running as greatest title ever. Logic titles represent cornerstones for gaming as medium, and engaging with almost every other genre.

Proposal and Rationale

Puzzle games wouldn’t have this problem. It would be easy to populate five nominees interesting, varied, worthy titles each ceremony simply — actually, with challenge, since numerous excellent numerous deserving experiences.

And to reiterate, these include experiences lacking appropriate categories in important events. Puzzle game makers function at the challenging frontier of video game design, developing some of the purest expressions of the video game form. Just like movie stunt professionals, they deserve recognition. We shouldn't delay 35 years.
